Privacy Policy

The short version

JSON Workbench is a set of tools that run entirely in your web browser. We do not collect, store, or transmit the JSON (or any other text) you paste. There are no accounts, no cookies, and no analytics scripts. You can confirm this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab, and use any tool. Nothing leaves the page.

Your JSON and other input

Everything you type, paste, or load into a tool is processed on your device, in your browser. It is never uploaded to a server, never logged, and never seen by us. When you close or reload the tab, that data is gone unless you saved it yourself.

What we store on your device

The site saves one small setting in your browser's localStorage: your chosen colour theme, so the site remembers it on your next visit. That is the only thing stored. We do not use cookies, and we do not use IndexedDB or any other database. You can clear this setting at any time through your browser's site-data controls.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies. It contains no advertising, no third-party trackers, no social media pixels, and no fingerprinting. Because there is nothing tracking you, there is no cross-site profile to build or sell.

Analytics

We run no analytics scripts in your browser, so no usage data is collected on the client side. To be fully transparent: like any website, the service is delivered by a hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages). To serve the pages, the host may process standard technical request information, such as your IP address and browser user-agent, in its own server logs. That processing is governed by the hosting provider's privacy policy, not ours, and it never includes the contents of the JSON you work with.

Share links

When you create a share link, the data is packed into the part of the URL after the# symbol (the "fragment"). By design, browsers never send the fragment to a server, so your data stays out of server logs even when you share the link. Keep in mind that anyone who has the link can open it and read its contents, so only share links you are comfortable with others seeing.

Third-party services

The only third party involved is the static hosting provider that serves the site's files. There are no other processors, no external fonts or CDNs (fonts are bundled with the site), no advertising networks, and no data sharing or selling of any kind.

Children's privacy

The service is a general-purpose developer tool and is not directed at children. Since we collect no personal information from anyone, we collect none from children either.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if the tools or hosting arrangement change. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
